Department of Computer Science & IT at Islamia University Bahawalpur
The Department of Computer Science & IT started functioning in 1994. Initially short courses and P.G.D. programs were launched. Later on Department started M.C.S. program in 1995. The teaching and research facilities were further expanded with the introduction of three years BCS in 1998, which was converted to a four years BS (CS) in 2001. Moreover BS (IT) program was launched in 2002. Department has five (05) state of the art computer labs. One of these declared as IT Center and strengthened in collaboration with Punjab IT Board (PITB). Since its establishment the center is providing computing facilities not only to the university personnel but also to employees of district government of Bahawalpur. Department is now establishing a new fully equipped network lab in collaboration with CISCO for the Networking Certification Courses. The Department has been selected to work as a Local CISCO Academy to produce world class IT Professionals. The demand of Computer Scientists and IT professionals throughout the world has encouraged the Department to start MS program from this session. The program is aimed to produce leading researchers in the field of CS & IT. Department is also offering PGD leading to MCS for the students and professionals of other disciplines to enhance their computational skills.
