Admission to MBA in Management of Information Technology at Schiller International University Heidelberg Germany

Admission:
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business administration.
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related fields, such as economics, including completion of the following courses: microeconomics, statistics, business law, marketing, management and accounting.

Students who have not completed required prerequisite courses may take MBA Preparatory Courses. Note also, that students without sufficient computer literacy and IT background may be required to take one or more basic computer courses over and above the 45 credit requirement.

Graduation Requirements:
In addition to the graduation requirements for all graduate students (see “Graduate Academic Regulations”), candidates for the Master of Business Administration Management of Information Technology degree must complete the following requirements:
A minimum of 45 semester credits at the graduate level, composed of the courses listed in the download link below or substitutes approved by the Program Advisor.
A final comprehensive examination or, subject to the decision of the Program Advisor, a thesis requiring a formal oral defense in lieu of the comprehensive examination. The thesis is in addition to the 45 credit hour requirement.
Submission of score on Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT).

Students should have a proficient level of English competence, both orally and written. English as a Foreign Language courses are offered to prepare those students who may need them for this program. A TOEFL score of 550 is expected.

As a graduate of the Dual MBA/MSMIT program, you will combine best experience and knowledge of an MBA with the technical management experience of the MSMIT. You can find a career in many fields, including Information Systems Management, Network and Database Administration, and more.

Tuition Rates for Academic Year of 2008-2009

All traditional full-time undergraduate students enrolling for 12-18 hours per semester are charged a flat rate of tuition. Students enrolling for less than 12 hours per semester will be charged at the per-credit hour rate. Students enrolling for more than 18 hours per semester will pay the per-credit hour charge for all hours in excess of 18. Students are encouraged to meet with their academic advisor prior to registration each semester.

The degree programme aims to produce developers of business data networks who can work to improve the businesses’ competitiveness nationally and internationally.

Graduates can apply their ICT competence to developing new service products, strengthening business operations and managing networks. The advanced studies focus on IT systems and data networks, with particular emphasis on information security competence. Methodological learning focuses on workplace development and innovation. The programme is linked to the metropolitan area’s core workplace competence, and the most important task is to generate influence and service competence through collaboration with various participants. Graduates have skills in developing the society, the region, the sector, the workplace and its practices.

The qualification achieved by graduates is Master of Business Administration. Graduates can take on demanding information system, information security and data network development tasks, work in business planning and leadership related to IT systems, or act as independent ICT entrepreneurs with advanced business skills.

Structure and implementation
The studies are organised by Laurea Leppävaara as blended learning. Development initiatives and projects are very important in the instruction, learning and guidance process. The extent of the programme is 90 ECTS credits and its duration is 2-3 years. Work methods include group work and independent study. Face-to-face instruction takes place between Thursday night and Saturday afternoon approximately every third week.
