Course Content
The programme and workload has been designed for students who are in full-time work. The programme is made up of six certificates (accredited courses). Each certificate is comprised of a series of modules. You choose four of the Certificates, depending on your particular interests to give you the Foundation degree you want.

The Certificate in Network and Systems Administration (NASA) is core to all three Foundation Degrees and provides the knowledge and skills that are essential to the administration of an effective networked system.

If you are concentrating on either systems or networking then in your second year you get the opportunity to take Certificates in Microsoft Systems Technologies (MSCert) or Cisco Networking Technologies (CiscoCert). These courses build upon the curriculum from professional industry-recognised qualifications (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and Cisco Certified Network Associate) and allow you to put the vendor-specific curriculum within a wider context and reflect upon the use of the technologies in the workplace.

The Certificates in Advanced Systems Administration (CASA) and Advanced Network Engineering (CANE) further develop your abilities and allow you to select modules and specialise in areas and emerging technologies that are most relevant to your interests.

The final year for all three foundation degrees is the Certificate in Systems and Network Programming (CSNP) which concentrates on developing programming skills – a key requirement in any contemporary networking or systems role. The course also develops associated skills such as systems analysis, user requirements and software development team-working.

This innovative Foundation Degree has been developed specifically for those working in an IT systems or network administration role.

This has been developed with employers and brings together academic study, lab-based practical sessions and work-based learning, at the same time providing a route towards qualified professional status. Tutors have in-depth, practical experience of network and systems administration and design, and of using new and emerging technologies.

The main educational aim of the Master of Information Technology is to provide broad technical understanding of latest and emerging technologies in the field of information technology. Due to rapid worldwide dependency on software application, the requirement for trained and experienced IT specialist is in great demand. The program offered provides a unique edge in the current complex marketplace.

DURATION
It is two-year full time study program spread over four semesters. Each semester has 18 weeks duration for teaching and examination.

Admission Criteria
Bachelor degree from a recognized university/ institute in any of the following subject: Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Commerce, Statistics, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering. Candidate must have at least 45% marks in the graduation degree.

Likewise, candidates having less than 45 % in their graduation from a recognized university/institute are eligible to apply for MIT admission provided they firstly qualify Mathematics, Computer Proficiency, and English courses in a single semester (called “Zero semester”) and achieve a semester GPA of at least 2.00. Fee for the Zero semester for students within Pakistan is Rs 6000/- payable in two equal installments. Fee (1st fee installment) payable at the time of admission is Rs. 3000/-. However, fee for the Zero semester for Pakistani students abroad is US $ 250. Such student would be responsible to pay additionally cost of Lecture CDs, Lecture Handouts plus shipment cost.

The Associate of Science degree in Applied Information Technology – A variety of skills is needed to develop, manage, and maintain the emerging technologies. Students in this program focus on all aspects of personal computing, including evaluation of software packages, multimedia telecommunications, end-user information systems, technical writing, and hardware, maintenance and troubleshooting.

The program is designed for those who wish to become business analysts, designers and managers of Information systems in business and industry. It develops the personal and professional skills necessary to work with organizations in the analysis, design, building and management of Information Systems.

Students will learn how to use industry-standard system building tools and packages, and they will develop skills in database design development and implementation. In addition, the program addresses the role of new and emerging technologies such as the Internet, e-commerce and distributed information system.

Students will also be taught project management techniques and explore issues relating to the management and development of information systems. On this program students will put skills and ideas into practice, working both individually and in team, preparing for careers in industry and commerce.

Computers that can’t talk to each other can’t do much good for anyone. As computers become more and more integrated with the people, homes, and businesses of the world, the need for savvy networking professionals will increase exponentially. Graduates of this program will be equipped to design, implement and manage medium to large networks. They also will have the experience to handle multiple networking technologies, along a theoretical background to help them understand new and emerging technologies in networking.

Program Description
This program provides the student with both the breadth and depth necessary for network infrastructure design and implementation. Emphasis is placed on the use of different networking technologies, protocols and paradigms; this includes voice, video and data. Students undertake networking projects of increasing sophistication as they progress through their course work. Study includes networking hardware, networking operating systems, wireless hardware and software security, and emerging technologies are explored. Emerging technologies are explored throughout the program.

Examines theory, concepts, and techniques for designing, managing, and evaluating advanced information technologies to meet specific information needs. Students engage in a project applying theoretical constructs to the provision of advanced information technology resources.

Students should expect to develop competencies in (1) the ability to understand organizational and system requirements, (2) the ability to evaluate and manage the implementation of technologies to meet these requirements, (3) ability to choose appropriate technologies to suit a given problem, and (4) developing an appreciation for the implications of system implementations in light of emerging technologies and practice trends.

These competencies will extend into enabling businesses to operate across and among international enterprises using so-called Enterprise solutions. Enterprise solutions, by definition, require the ability to distribute applications across many computers, perhaps even across large geographical distances.

The M.Tech program enables graduates to have a broad technical understanding of current and emerging technologies in the IT field, a familiarity with systems engineering concepts, and a solid foundation in the technological basis of the Internet. They will also have a firm grasp of current and future effects of the convergence of computer systems and telecommunication systems technologies. Electives offered include Grid Computing, Soft Computing and Computer Forensics. The Department is working on the development of a new graduate program that specializes in Information Security and Computer Forensics.

In just one year, you will be ready to enter the dynamic field of telecommunications where you can explore new and emerging technologies. Students will learn to set up and troubleshoot equipment used in five basic areas: telecommunication electronics, cable splicing (coaxial, twisted pair, and fiber optics), print reading, installation of customer equipment, and plant construction practices (aerial and buried cables and equipment). Computer skills, mathematics, safety, and customer relations are also emphasized in the program. This WITC program is unique in the state.
