Entry requirements
You must have passed the CCNA award and have a certificate registration number with Cisco. If English is a second language, you should have a minimum IELTS score of 5.5 with all components 5.0 or above, or TOEFL score of 550 with 4 in TWE (Test of Written English) or 213 in the computer-based test (essay rating 4). The course also requires familiarity with the use of the internet along with some basic keyboard and office style applications.

The network specialist certificate is designed to provide the student with the knowledge and skills required to construct, maintain, and administer a computer network system. The configuration of the hardware components of a network system and the software necessary to operate and control the network will be covered in detail. After successful completion of this program, the student will be eligible to sit for the CompTia A+ certification exam, Novell CNA certification exam, CISCO CCNA certification exam, and Microsoft 2000 Server certification exam.

Length of Course
The program takes four academic years consisting of eight semesters, each including two 8-week terms. The minimum time to complete the program is 32 months (136 weeks, including breaks). Students must complete the associate’s degree plus a minimum of 65.5 credit hours, for a total of 129 credit hours. Lab time for the complete four-year program is approximately 480 hours; theory time, 1695 hours.

How do you get your IT career started? IT professionals will tell you it’s about having skills and being able to apply them to a business problem or situation. Our two-year program does just that! You’ll get the hands-on skills necessary to be immediately productive in a business environment.
You’ll take computers and servers apart and rebuild them. You’ll learn all about networking on our CISCO equipment. You’ll construct dynamic web sites and work with Microsoft’s current product set including SQL Server and Visual Studio. Our faculty all have prior industry experience as well as their credentials and they’ll help you find learning opportunities outside the classroom too. Just ask them.
When you’ve completed the program, you’ll be ready for the real IT world. Of course, you can go even further if you want and open the door to more possibilities.
